About Chris Price Music
Chris Price is a composer and programmer from Spokane, Washington. After years of putting together music he decided to build this website to feature his, and other people's music. He teaches at a local high school and plays in ensembles around the area. In the ensembles he teaches and plays in he tests out new music, gets feedback, and finds what works and doesn't work with writing. Chris has written for all types of ensembles, including jazz bands, full orchestras, marching bands, drum and bugle corps, indoor percussion ensembles, small ensembles, and contemporary rock/pop groups. Oftentimes, he'll try to diversify the music he listens to, mixing in classical, contemporary, country, and just about any other genre you can think of. Most of his music is written in a way to be audibly aesthetically pleasing, using lots of extended harmony and rich orchestration.
Writing Philosophy
Accessibility comes first. There are near infinite ways to write a clave, but there's only a few ways to write it in a manner that is sight readable. Rhythms and pitches have multiple different ways to be written, but some methods are definitely better than others. All pieces of music on this website are carefully looked over to make sure they're at a high quality. It's important to take rehearsal time to learn the music, not understand the writer's intent. We make sure all music is unambiguous and easy to read.
